About Refbio II project

Refbio II (2016-2018) emerged as a continuation of Project Refbio I (2012-2015), which allowed the creation of a cross-border network involving nine entities from six regions located on both sides of the Pyrenees and whose objective is to promote the Cooperation in health sciences on both sides of the Pyrenees as well as a biomedical research in areas pertinent to health.

The second phase of this project is co-financed by 65% by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the Interreg V-A Spain-France-Andorra Program (POCTEFA 2014-2020). The objective of the POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border area. Its assistance focuses on the development of cross-border economic, social and environmental activities through joint strategies for sustainable territorial development.

The project is developed through three major blocks: promotion of public-private collaboration, development of collaborative projects and finally, facilitate the transfer and exploitation of results of biomedical R&D in the Pyrenees area.
